American Minks start breeding in late winter, when males begin to travel long trips in search for females. They are polygamous, i. e. they are not picky about their partners. Females wean their young for about 8 weeks, and the young mature by age of 10 months.

American Minks are prized for their unique fur. It has a slender body, short legs and long and densely coated tail that reaches one third of the body length. Wild Minks are solitary and aggressive, but those raised in captivity can be sociable and funny. The pet classifieds may be sponsored by local farms; a photo of each submission is sometimes required.
